PACD10

Despite recent
advances in the understanding and treatment of Diabetes, this syndrome remains a
major health problem and very important spot in thehealth map of any country
weather developed or developing . prognosis ,complications and net outcome is
still below our expectations . an estimated average of four to ten per cent of
the global Arab population are affected. Recent
studies suggest that this figure may be even higher and that there may be as
many as double this estimation with either suspected or confirmed Diabetes in
the Arab countries. The high morbidity, hospitalization and mortality rates
associated with Diabetes especially due to cardiovascular complications also
impose a heavy financial burden on healthcare systems which are already
exhausted in some Arab countries ..Ultimately, progress in Diabetes management
depends on ongoing multidisciplinary investigation and subsequent changes in
clinical practice in order to implement these advances. One of the objectives of
this well known event “ Pan Arab Conference on Diabetes
PACD
in its 10th year
is to gather
together
all those interested in this area of medical knowledge –
Diabetologists ,endocrinologists , cardiologists, internists, b a s i c s c i e
n t i s t s , g e n e t i c i s t s , epidemiologists, nurses, nutritionists and
others – so that they can share new insights and thus contribute to improving
the care of patients, which is our primary mission. To this end, since 1997 we
have held a large Meeting every year to provide an extensive update of all
recent advances at basic and clinical levels. The next Meeting, PACD10 Diabetes
2006, will be held in the beautiful city of Cairo, the oldest city in the region
“where the Nile is about to bifurcate before it ends”.We warmly invite you to
come and participate in this Meeting, and share with us the joy of an exciting
and challenging scientific programme, as well as the beauty of the enchanting
city of Cairo – a mix of the old and the new.We look forward to meeting you in
